| KMAC’s staff of Lean Manufacturing experts deliver training and implementation assistance in the following Lean techniques. |
| Lean 101 | This fun, hands-on introduction to the principals of Lean Manufacturing is a great way to jump start a Lean Manufacturing project. Participants learn Lean techniques and then apply them in a simulated manufacturing environment for “Buzz Electronics.” They’ll experience firsthand how Lean reduces cycle time, improves quality, decreases Work-in-Process (WIP), and improves on-time delivery performance. |
| Value Stream Mapping | VSM is a powerful tool used to create a map of your current material and information flow for a product or process and, more importantly, a future state map in which waste and non value-added activities are eliminated. We help your employees develop a plan for attacking those non-value added activities and move to the future state. Follow-on training sessions and implementation projects will then support the execution of the plan. |
| Setup Reduction / Quick Changeover |
KMAC’s Setup Reduction/Quick Changeover training and implementation is based on the principles of the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) system, developed by Shigeo Shingo, to dramatically reduce or eliminate changeover time. |
| 5S / Visual Workplace |
Participants in the 5S/Visual Workplace training will learn the 5S System for improving workplace organization and standardization and then apply it in a simulated production operation. KMAC staff can then lead employees through 5S implementation projects in your production facility where they will standardize work, put visual displays and controls in place, and transform a cluttered, disorganized area into a clean, organized and orderly workplace. |
| Pull Systems / Kanban |
Pull Systems/Kanban control the flow of resources in a production process by replacing only what has been consumed. Implementing Pull Systems can dramatically decrease Work-in-Process (WIP) and lead times by eliminating waste in handling, storing, and getting your product to the customer. |
| Cellular / Flow Manufacturing |
Participants in the training session will learn Cellular/Flow Manufacturing principles and experience the dramatic results of transforming a traditional batch production area to a cellular layout. KMAC staff can then lead improvement events in your facility aimed at balancing your processes so that the product flows continuously and customer demands are easily met. |
| Total Productive Maintenance |
The goal of TPM is to maximize your Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce downtime to zero while improving quality and capacity. Participants in the TPM workshop will learn how to find and eliminate the six major equipment related losses and solve the problem that causes 75% of equipment breakdowns. Through implementation projects, employees will apply TPM principles in your facility to achieve significant improvements in uptime and improved equipment effectiveness. |
| Kaizen Blitz |
Led by a KMAC expert, a Kaizen Blitz is an intense and focused improvement event where participants use Lean techniques, team empowerment, brainstorming and problem solving to rapidly make improvements to a specific area or process. The Kaizen event will provide your company with immediate tangible results and motivation for ongoing continuous improvements. |
